MWM ISO Manly Garden Gloves

MWM iso rugged / dry pair of gardening gloves. Must shed water and clay with ease and have a contemporary, clean-edged, non flowery style to yourself (I am a metrosexual outside the garden). Prefer coverage over the wrists, but not picky--won't settle either (I am an anal retentive metrosexual outside the garden--who am I kidding, anal in the garden, too). You must be willing to appreciate my extreme and sudden mood swings, but I promise not to leave you outside in the rain at day's end. Looking for a ltr, but also a realist as I intend to live our life together actively and eclectically--this may mean the occasional chemicals or rusty rebar. If interested, contact MB 1855.

[70 and sunny Saturday, 2-4" of snow Sunday night]

I read that about 10 times and still read it 10 different ways. Is there someone you are trying to hook up with or a good pair of gardening gloves that will be there for you through thick and thin? Or--both?

Anna, nope, just gardening gloves, trying to be funny and failing, I suppose. :)

I am perpetually seeking garden gloves. I have found 2 kinds that I like - Mud Gloves for mulching & mucky work, and the thin nitrile gloves for everything else. The problem is that 1 glove of each pair gets a hole in it. (The strange part is that the hole can be in either hand, in thumb or fingers.) So I'm always left with mismatched or leaky gloves.

I bought a new pair of gardening gloves today. Time will tell if it's a good pair or not. It was a durable latex coat on the palm side and webbed on the back. Perfect for my kind of work. I sometimes wear my gloves up to 10 hours a day. I'm constantly picking up flats of flowers and containers. I hate the real heavy duty types. They leave my hands tired and wet all day. So light weight wins for me. So Benjamin--gloves are one of the most important parts of my gardening outfits. You are funny and witty--it's me that doesn't always get it.

West Country Gardener gloves are perfect for the MWM. I know you will have them for quite a long time! You can probably find them on line!

Layanee--Well, I will go check them out. I've just not been happy with the three other pairs I have! Thanks.

I could never make such bold promises as not leaving my gloves outside in the rain at day's end. Many a good pair of gloves have been lost that way.

Lately, I've begun to think that gloves are just not meant for me in the garden. For some reason, I have an inordinate amount of right-handed gloves.

Kate--I actually prefer NOT to have gloves--I like to touch the soil and plants, feel my way through them. It's just more real to me. I learn so much more this way.

However, I also get tired of the scratches, deep wounds, and clay under my nails which tries to pry the nails off.

I am really particular about my gloves and I like Atlas Nitrile. They are thin and fit very tightly so your hands are protected but you can still feel what you are doing. Mine are pink but they come in black and even have a manly name "Nitrile Tough." If you leave them out in the rain, it is ok you can just throw them in the wash and lay them on top to dry and they are as good as new. I got mine online from a company called creekwater products. Strange mix of products but nice people anyway and I only paid $5 a pair including shipping.
