My Writing / Gardening Shed

I don't have my mythical 100 acres to restore to prairie yet, but I found the cloister I'd like to build among it. Which one do you prefer?

Just imagine the books I could write and gardens to imagine in my little haven. And these are just some of the designs by a firm in the UK. You can have a green roof if you like, a wet bar, a bathroom. Whatever. If you have $40,000, send it my way? (Actually, one million would be better--need the land and a tractor and geothermal and solar and wind turbine and walkie talkies to contact the wife and ask when she's leaving me since I never walk the 200 feet to the main house to say hello).

Benjamin,
This is really cute! Where do you want the money sent? I'll see if the big wigs at Goldman Sachs will just give you the money they are so generous.

Yeah. I want a writing/man cave as well. Have ever since I read Michael Pollan's "A Place Of My Own". Try it, good read.

Benjamin, I want one of these and a bit of land to put it on. I think the one with the folding door would be my favourite. lovely garden BTW.

I prefer the more modernist cube, but I don't think you can have that flat roof on the prairie in winter. Have you considered a sod/earthen/half buried prairie writing shack on a south west facing hill?

That would be a kick ass writing / garden shed.

I second the recommendation to read Pollan's A Place of My Own. I got a chance to see his writers shed on a garden tour in CT about a dozen years ago. It was very cool. PLus it will be cheaper if you build it your self like Pollan did!

OK I want a million dollars too for outfitting one of these babies...the second fits my decor and house although I would need a bathroom and another large window...I would need a special lock or my hubby will be there too much and wanting to take it over...

I'm totally with you on this one, I want one too. You might want to check out Tumbleweed Tiny House Company, they have DIY kits for half the prefab price. Or find somewhere that offers grants for this type of thing. It's fun to dream, at least.

The dream of the posh shed. We've all been there. If you ever get it, you should insist on referring to it as your "bespoke" shed for the play-on-words.

Wouldn't want to find mice in that "shed"! So fancy!

Fabulous aren't they!

I think I would ask to have the wet bar left out, otherwise I would never leave.

The garden shed/clubhouse I really want is the one owned by Pam of Pam's English Garden. She posted about it recently.

Randy--email me and I'll send you my address. Wait. Are you just joking? :(
Dr R--I have the book, tried to read it, got bored and read about gardening history instead. But, maybe I should look at it again.
Janet--that's the correct answer!
CNC--You mean get back to my family roots and build a sod house? I need some prairie to bust. Where's the prairie???
Meems--Kick ass ++++++ right?
Michael--I'm jealous of your visit! My dad built houses. Maybe I can get him to help me build it? Now I need some, oh, serious money and more land.
Donna--DNA key pad.
Julie--and a place that does grants for solar panels.
Susan--Ha. Bespoke. That could be it's name.
Dawn--Oh yeah, mice or bats or wombats or bison. Nope.
Gail--like heaven....
Les--You can come visit my wet bar anytime you know.
Carolyn--What? Not one of these? :)

Yeah, a spacious garden shed would be nice. That and having a rocking chair, or anything to sit on for that matter, would be nice. That would make for a good spot to relax in while enjoying the sights of a garden, or while enjoying a book, or writing in a notebook.

I would love my own secret get away at the bottom of the garden too. I have a shed which is wonderful but not to this luxury. I think I would like both of them (greedy I know!). The first one for relaxing, reading and blogging in, and the second one could be for running my own little craft area in..one can dream eh?

Rose, you're a woman after my own heart. I one two as well--one for writing, one for drawing / painting / whatever.
