Nebraska Blooms

Did I miss GBBD? Well, here ya go.

Is that the first hummingbird?

Actually, it's quite lovely outside. Low 40s and sunny. Our 12" of snow is now about 2-4", and will be gone this weekend. I no longer order plants--growing my old, from wild seedlings to cuttings to divisions to closet propagation. Still, shouldn't plant catalogs have seeds embedded in their pages?

Seeds embedded in their pages; now that is a great idea. Even one or two would give a great sample. I like your unique way of getting some color

Never thought of doing this but instead of throwing my old wall calendars out or putting them in the recyle bin, I frame them and hang them on my walls. Also, I can't recall the name of the company but they specialize in wedding invitations which they make out of seeded paper. The actually sell the seeded paper that ends up on the floor after cuttings for a mimimal amount. I purchased a stack of seeded paper and have made place cards etc. out of them and my own homemade cards. All you do is put the paper in the ground, add a little dirt and water and sit back. Ben, I love your blog. Thanks. Mary

I had no idea those plants could do so well in the snow!

Very clever :))). I popped over to tell you that I gave a friend your book for her birthday and she loved it!

Thanks Laveta, Scott, y'all. I wish I could've done more justice to my inspiration, but the snow's melting so fast. MY grandmother had fake flowers in a bed, so maybe that's my inspiration.

There's a local printer I know of, think by hand, that does seeded paper for special events. Pretty neat.

And Kate, wow, my book as a gift? You rock. I need more reviews on Amazon and Goodreads, ahem. Thinking of sending the manuscript off to another press yet, maybe. Eh. Need to work on memoir #3.
