Did you know that Piet Oudolf and John Dixon Hunt are big baseball fans? In fact, Minnesota Twins fans? So are certain plants in my garden. I came home today, a day before the Twins open the season, and noticed two plants having a private pep rally.

Thuja occidentalis 'Emerald Green' |

Malus 'Coralburst' with a 2010 Homer Hanky.
I look forward to being swept by the Yanks again. Sigh. |

I love your prairie photo above. Gorgeous. For some reason I became a Chicago Cubs fan years ago even though I've only been as close to the city as O'Hare. I'm not following baseball any longer and have no idea who's who.
In the nelson garden we have rudebeckias for reds. Unfortunately they haven't grown tall enough to hang a hat on. Now if we could just get past the cards.
Poor misguided plants! Good thing that they have their good looks to fall back on. (Says the Detroit Tigers fan...)
p.s. Good thing that I have "delete this comment" to fall back on, when autocorrect changes words like, "looks" to "luck"... lol.
CG--you mean the header photo at the top? That's Spring Creek Prairie, where my wife and I had our wedding reception in 07. It's good you don't follow baseball--overpaid, doped up whiners. But basketball is much worse, I suppose.
G--'Brandy' rudbeckias?
Kim--I wish I did a better job editing my comments, but, I do have to do that so much in the rest of my life, I like the freedom of misssspelline thinks once in a while. (Shouldn't you be an Indians fan?)
Goldstrum and Indian summer. Havn't tried brandy.
Baseball is always a dicey subject if you are from the Chicago-land area! Cubs vs. White Sox... that alone will get you in a bar fight. To make it more interesting, my husband is a Cardinals fan since childhood - though he grew up in IL?! I, on the other hand, plead the 5th.
Twins should be tough this year in the Central..
