Me + Orion Magazine = Bam!

I'm going to have a picture and a short block of words in the July / August issue of Orion. It's one of my favorite publications, and now I've got my foot in the door. It's just so cool, you know?

The image is of my wife on a gravel country road trying to get close to some of the 500,000 sandhill cranes that come through here every spring. Link to this post to find the image.

Benjamin,
Really cool to get in Orion mag. How did you get that hooked up? I've had images in a few mags none as popular as Orion.

Randy--Orion has started up again their "Place Where you Live" feature. You can submit nicely edited, brief prose pieces online, and / or a photo with it. They end up publishing a few select pieces in each issue. I got plucked, and got lucky!
Layanee--I remember sitting in my warm car, watching my wife walk ahead, and snapping pictures constantly. I thought I might have has something, and I guess I did! I love photography, now I wish I could afford a nice $2,000 zoom lens.
